The Treasure Within
My Savior
is Jesus, who died for me.
He’s the forgiver, whose blood was shed.
Yet I know there’s more to see,
for there are parts of me I dread.
It’s not
enough to go my way,
Nature and lusts are prone to bind.
They ever twist and tangle my mind.
What shall I do, who’ll set me free?
You alone
have answered my need.
For what I can not do
is always to be done in You.
In the end it is Christ indeed.
You have
a bend for pots of clay,
They’re made to hold Your life.
Your power goes with me in all my strife.
I treasure Your treasure, within me to stay.
Now that
all power is Yours to claim,
I can not fail, I can not stray.
Never crushed, though torn every way,
The treasure proves His worth--it makes my day.
When I‘m
perplexed there’s no despair.
The treasure within has shown His might--
the treasure within has shown the light.
His wondrous ways are beyond compare.
When
attacks come I’m not forsaken.
The treasure within grows more intense.
He is at work in my defense
no matter the charge, even if mistaken.
Sometimes
struck down, but never gone,
I claim the treasure--its defensive shield.
I know to Him I want to yield,
His treasure within to rely upon.
It seems
that I am dying within,
So the life of Christ can grow and shine.
Oh how I love that Life of mine--
He made the treasure for me to win.
He is my
wisdom, justification.
He is my salvation, sanctification.
What is there for me to do?
Just give all praise to You.
I have
been crucified with Christ,
and I no longer live.
Christ lives within me--
what more can He give?
Seated in
the heavens, at Father’s right side,
I praise His might and love.
Why me, why am I seated above?
An eternity of treasure in Him abides.
I will be
given a new name,
For in Him I am not the same.
He alone knows what it is,
It too will show the praise that’s His.
