September 30
“He is not here, but He has risen. Remember how He spoke to you while He was
still in Galilee, saying that the Son of Man must be delivered into the hands of
sinful men, and be crucified, and the third day rise again.” Luke 24:6,7.
Two men suddenly stood in front of the women that came to the tomb of Jesus.
They were perplexed as they found the stone rolled away from the tomb, and His
body was missing. The strangers had to remind them that Jesus had told them of
his eventual delivery into the hands of men, the crucifixion, and His rising on
the third day.
Why is it so difficult for us to believe? Hopefully most of us believe that the
tomb is empty, but do we really believe that Jesus is alive? Many that we
encounter in our daily journeys still believe that the body of Jesus was taken
away by thieves or by the soldiers.
Certainly His resurrection is central to our faith—His new life is also imparted
to us in the form of a new creation. Yes, we have been born again.
The stone was not removed so that Jesus could get out, as some would prefer to
explain. We are to know that the stone was rolled away by an act of God so that
we could enter and see the empty tomb. We serve a living God.
Thank You, Father, for the miracle of the resurrection of Your Son. Let my life
express this truth as I walk with Him each day. In the name of Jesus, Amen.
