September 24

O Timothy, guard what has been entrusted to you, avoiding worldly and empty chatter and the opposing arguments of what is falsely called “knowledge”—which some have professed and thus gone astray from the faith. 1 Timothy 6:20,21.

We are in age of exploding communication. Bombarded on all sides by useful as well as false information, we are sometimes hard pressed to sort out what is truly meaningful for our lives. Yet, God is asking Timothy and we as well to guard what has been entrusted to us. He is, of course, referring to the precious gift of the life of Christ, living within us, that we are to guard. The world system will constantly try to lead us astray—it will present opportunities that seem pleasant or fruitful, yet as we reach for them and include them within our lives we discover that those opportunities have really been diversions that detract from our trust in Jesus. Empty gossip and chatter are clear examples of this behavior. Misused science, which may promote the lies of Evolution, continually tries to persuade Christians that they are the products of chance, random chaos. False knowledge proclaiming our lineage from apes is presented to cause doubt in God as creator of man in His image. .

Today, Lord, let me be on guard to protect what has been entrusted to me. I will continually seek Your truth before I bend to the incomplete or deceitful information presented by the world. Let me listen to the Holy Spirit as He correctly beckons me to the right path. He will provide a test for everything that is presented to me. Thank You for this close walk with You. Amen.
