September 19

When I consider Thy heavens, the work of Thy fingers, the moon and the stars, which Thou hast ordained; what is man, that Thou dost take thought of him?  And the son of man, that Thou dost care for him?  Yet Thou hast made him a little lower than God, and dost crown him with glory and majesty!  Psalm 8:3-5.

We know that man was created in the beginning to have dominion over the earth.  But Adam fell into sin.  Now we read in this Psalm that God’s plan remains unchanged—man is to have dominion over the earth.  Praise God for His unending purpose and His love for those whom He has created!

We live in a world, which seems to have forgotten the creation.  God was in His finest work as He created the worlds and the man who would have dominion.  He was not surprised by Adam’s fall, nor will He change His mind about the goals for man.  Satan is defeated, and we are to live out that message as we proclaim the wonders of our Creator.

We can be saddened by the coldness of the world toward the things of God.  Or we can be bold in our resolve to speak the truth in love.  The world is in great need of truth—we can see this in the negative way that news is communicated to us by TV, radio and press.  We can see this in the false concepts of evolution that are promoted in our schools.  We see it in the blind search of false religions for spiritual life. Yes, we can be creatures that speak of the wonders of our God, who has made all things.

Thank You Father for Your grace that makes all of our life productive and useful to Your purposes.  You are unchanging in Your desire to allow us to have dominion.  We have abused that privilege, but in Your mercy You have provided a new man, Jesus, who will fulfill all of Your intentions.  Thank You and Amen.
