October 25

Now may the God peace Himself sanctify you entirely; and may your spirit and soul and body be presented complete, without blame at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.  1 Thessalonians 5:23.

God is setting aside a people after His own heart—those who love Him and serve Him forever.  My friends, if you know Jesus you are one of these.  To be sanctified entirely is to not only experience the workings of God in your life; it is to discover that you are totally in Christ.  Through the transformation of your mind you finally see that your whole body, soul and spirit are complete.  We owe all of this to God.  He is bent upon presenting us whole and totally clothed in all respects with Christ.

Our sanctification, or setting apart for God, takes a variety of forms.  The Holy Spirit works His ways into us by showing us how to rest in Jesus.  We begin to see that indeed we are forgiven and totally accepted.  We acknowledge and begin to understand our justification, which allows God to see us as if we had never sinned.  We even begin to accept and regard as true that our old nature in Adam was crucified at the cross.  Above all we know that we do not walk this life alone, for the Holy Spirit is our constant guide.

I need these truths as I encounter the world system.  Our ways with Christ stand in stark contrast to the ways of the world.  It is easy to be discouraged by the circumstances pressuring us, but we know that our final citizenship is in heaven.  We are blessed with the life of the Creator God, and nothing in this world can take that away from us.

Thank You Father for sanctifying us in Christ.  He alone holds all things together, and we one with Him in ways that go beyond our comprehension.  We rejoice that we will have eternity to learn from you.  Amen.
