October 10

Therefore you too now have sorrow, but I will see you again, and your heart will rejoice, and no one takes your joy away from you. And in that day you will ask Me no question. John 16:22,23a.

We know what it is to mourn over our sin and the sins of the world.  But Jesus reminds us in this verse that He is the source of our joy.  He will return and bring us joy that lasts for eternity. The pattern was established by Jesus, who by the joy set before Him went to the cross.  We are to be new creations that see the outcome of our labors and suffering.  It is to His glory that we exist and live within Him.

Can you imagine how it will be to see Him?  I have often thought of this, and I wonder if I will be able to stand up and look at Him.  Will I be kneeling or laying down in adoration?  Will I have anything to say, or would I even have the boldness to say any word?  No, as these verses reveal, we will not ask any question.  It will be a moment of blessing where we can only depend upon His grace to survive.

This is the will of the Lord.  We who are earthly will be transformed into the unearthly—an eternal spiritual body which will be designed to listen and marvel over Jesus.  I am certain that we will be able to sing praises to His name.  We will absorb His word and His life for eternity.

We thank You Father for all that You are ready to bestow upon us.  We ask that our spirit be quickened today so that we may be ever conscious of Your glory and Your workings within us.  Amen.
