November 7

Thy commandments make me wiser than my enemies, for they are ever mine.  I have more insight than all my teachers, for Thy testimonies are my meditation.  I understand more than the aged, because I have observed Thy precepts.  Psalm 119:98-100.

David has claimed the wonders of God’s word.  Although he had only the first five books of the Bible, David found that he could meditate upon them all day long.  He drew strength from the word, and he could announce that the word taught him wisdom, insight and understanding—beyond anything the world could offer.

It would be easy for us to overlook this truth—the word of God is able to set us apart from the feeble wisdom, insight and understanding of the world system.  It is our lifeline to God, and He can enrich us and equip us to deal with life’s encounters in a way that is remarkable.  The world will look at the person who dwells on God’s word with amazement and even envy.  Yes, we have a loving God who wants only to share His wisdom, insight and understanding with us—if we would just trust Him and read His word.

David goes on to explain how the word changes him.  He learned the sweetness of the word, and he found that he learned to hate every false way within him.  All this was from just the first five books of the Bible.  Think how much better we are with so much more of God’s revelation in our printed versions.

Father, I look forward today to Your wisdom, insight and understanding.  I want to learn how to meditate upon Your word all the day.  Teach me more of You, and I will carry that message to the world around me.  Thank You and Amen.
