May 31
For the Law was given through Moses, grace and truth were realized through
Jesus Christ. John 1:17.
More than any other gift, more than anything that we can ever earn, we need
grace and truth. The order is important here—truth can only be revealed by His
grace. We are living in a world that may claim that God, even if in its mind He
indeed exists, is one of peace and grace. He would never exercise judgement or
wrath upon us, they say. I have talked to some who claim to accept grace, but it
is for the purpose of justifying their own decisions. And then there is a lack
of acceptance of absolute truth. We have substituted relative truth—the kind
that depends upon our own limited viewpoint. The younger generation often
defines truth as ‘whatever works in my life’.
Lord Jesus, free me from the grip of this deadly worldview. I want to discover
all the absolutes that are within You. As our creator You alone have defined the
very source of life and the values that stem from it. Allow me to live a life of
grace and truth that reflects Your values and purposes. I look forward to this
very day for revelations from You. Amen.
