May 6 As you therefore have received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him, having been firmly rooted and now being built up in Him and established in your faith, just as you were instructed, and overflowing with gratitude. Colossians 2:6,7. Paul is reminding us that we have received Jesus by faith, so it is only appropriate that we also walk in Him by faith. There can be no other way—the way of faith. He also explains that we are firmly rooted in Him. I am afraid that we often forget this truth—our faith in Jesus is secure, and nothing can remove that root. Jesus will not let anyone snatch us out of His hand. And we are also being built up. That is, we are growing more and more into the likeness of Jesus. We should be able to look back and see how we have changed over time. We anxiously long for the new revelations that He will reveal to us. All the while we are growing into His likeness; we are celebrating and praising Him. My dear friends, there should be a boldness in the way we approach God and His Son. He has fashioned us in His image, completed the task, and set us into this world to reveal His nature to all who would believe. We are fantastically equipped, so why don’t we behave that way? Yes, we can claim all that is in Christ Jesus as we face the world with its many temptations and misleading approaches to life. Today, dear Heavenly Father, let me walk in bold faith, realizing I have been built upon the solid rock of Jesus. I am fully equipped. I am totally prepared to show You to the world. And I owe all thanks and praise to You. Amen. |
