May 30
And Moses made haste to bow low toward the earth and
worship. And he said, “If now I have found favor in Thy sight, O Lord, I pray,
let the Lord go along in our midst, even though the people are so obstinate; and
do thou pardon our iniquity and our sin, and take us as Thine own possession.”
Exodus 34:8,9.
The Lord had just renewed the two tablets of the Law--ones
broken earlier by Moses. when he saw the sins of the people. Moses loves the
ways of the Lord, and he honors Him first by worship. He did not ask for
anything first, as we might do. We often make a list of things that we want the
Lord to do for us, then we praise Him if He answers our prayer favorably. But
that is to reverse the whole matter.
Yes, we are to learn to worship the Lord, not only for who
He is but also for His ways. When we accept that His ways are best for us,
regardless if His answer is ‘yes’ or ‘no’, then are giving all honor to the Lord
and not to ourselves. You will never go wrong by worshipping and praising the
Lord. If you then desire, you may follow with prayer. He will listen. Only by
worshipping Him first will you be able to properly accept His answer to prayer.
Lord, we are often so prone to think that we know best,
when all along it is only You that has the answer. Thank You for being the one
who bestows grace and peace upon Your humble servants. We have so much to
learn, and let it start today as we worship You for Your ways. Amen.
