O continue Thy lovingkindness to those who know Thee, and Thy righteousness
to the upright in heart. Let not the foot of pride come upon me, and let not the
hand of the wicked drive me away. Psalm 36:10,11.
The lovingkindness of the Lord is without limit. We are receiving it moment by
moment. Recently we were blessed by the successful surgery on a grandson, who
was suffering intense pain from a fluid around his lung. The doctors have still
not found the cause, even after a week. But the Lord knows, and He will reveal
his will for the child and his family. We will be able to look back and see the
wonders He has performed.
We are upright in heart only because God, in His grace, has given each believer
a new heart. We have the heart of Jesus. There can be no room for pride because
all the praise goes to Him. At the same time, I need to be cautious about giving
up on deeds that would be fruitful to the Lord. I can not let the devices of the
wicked drive me away from what the Lord wants. There is always the temptation to
do this very thing—forgetting that we are not here to please men but we are here
to please God.
Today, Lord Jesus, let me be ever mindful of Your love and kindness. I often
take it for granted, but rid me of that harmful habit. I want to be aware of
Your presence continually. Thank You for the friend that You are. Amen.
