May 2
For am I now seeking the favor of men, or of God? Or am I striving to please
men? If I were still trying to please men, I would not be a bond-servant of
Christ. Galatians 1:10.
It is a fact that our Christian faith is attacked on all sides by the desires of
man. We try to control the worship of our Lord with man-made rules, procedures,
doctrines, and even the time, place and order of worship. It even extends to
attempts at grading the sermons and the music that we share. We so often think
we are little gods who know far more than the real God. Thank You, Lord, that
You have looked upon us with grace. There is hope that things can be corrected
to match Your will.
The real bond-servant of Christ realizes that worship is an ongoing, daily walk.
We are to accept by faith that leaders have been placed over us by God, not by
man. Yes, we may have formal procedures for this, but it would be best if we
realized the amount of prayer and Godly providence that went into the selection
of our leaders. Without this faith, we are trusting in the twisted pleasures of
man. Our very Christian walk is threatened when we try only to please ourselves
or other men.
Today, Lord Jesus, let me be a true bond-servant. I am freed from the bondage of
sin, and yet I deliberately choose to be bound to You. It is Your will and
pleasure that I seek. My desires may be in conflict with those of my fellow man,
but I will know by the test of Your word that I am doing right in Your sight.
Let me pray for my leaders, and may I always support them and encourage them. I
will not be a faultfinder. Instead I will seek to model all the ways of Christ.
You alone can make all of this possible. Thank You and Amen.
