March 15
But now apart from the Law the righteousness of God
has been manifested, being witnessed by the Law and the Prophets, even the
righteousness of God through faith in Jesus Christ for all those who believe;
for there is no distinction; for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of
God, being justified as a gift by His grace through the redemption which is in
Christ Jesus. Romans 3:21-24.
It is by faith in Jesus that we obtain the free gift of
righteousness. We must never attempt to improve upon this, or ignore the
awesome blessing that this gift bestows. It is the righteousness of God. Man’s
self-righteousness has nothing to do with this, nor should it even be
considered. Instead we have the gift of justification. God is looking at our
record, not counting our sins against us, and treating us as if we had never
sinned at all. We find it difficult, or even impossible, to fathom a grace
that extends that far.
In the providence of God He has made up His mind—even in
eternity past—that man could never attain the sinless perfection that God
requires. It is only by choosing life in Christ that we can obtain all that God
wishes to give us. All sin has been paid—past, present, and future sins.
Christ is our redeemer. He alone was the one who could pay
the price with His own life. That event is ever before us as we walk each day
with Him. There can be no room for our fleshly ways—only His way will meet the
challenge. Our walk should be characterized by a humble adoration of all the
Jesus is prepared to reveal.
Thank You Father for the redemption that was provided by
Your Son, Jesus. All things are in Him, and by Your grace I am in Him as well.
By some miracle of Your love He is also in me. Amen.
