June 9

Come, let us return to the Lord.  For He has torn us, but He will heal us.  He has wounded us, but He will bandage us.  Hosea 6:1.

With the fall of Adam we fled from God.  The path by which we can return is through Christ, the Son of God.  We have a great need for God.  Our nature in Adam will never reach the potential that is in Christ.  So we are embarked on a journey here on earth that is designed to be a path to eternity with God.  How can we take as many with us as possible?

Watchman Nee says a very pointed thing: “The Lord does not set us here first of all to preach, or to do any work for Him.  The first thing for which He sets us here is to create hunger in others.  No true work will ever begin without a sense of need being created.  We cannot inject that into others; we cannot drive people to be hungry.  That hunger is to be created, and that hunger can be created only through those who carry the impressions of God.”

My friend, do you carry the impressions of God?  Does the treasure in your earthen vessel shine forth, even in the most unexpected times?  Do you show fruit of the Spirit in spite of troublesome circumstances?  Can you count it all joy when you experience various trials?  When the world sees this character within you it can only surmise that you must be carrying an impression of something greater than yourself.  Yes, that impression will cause those around you to hunger for a better life.  And then you can tell them of the life of Christ within you.

Thank You Father for the mystery of Christ.  He lives within me and I want those around me to hunger for that life.  Place me out of the way so that they will not focus upon me.  Let them long for the new life that can be found in Jesus.  Amen.
