And after being baptized, Jesus went up immediately from the water; and
behold, the heavens were opened, and he saw the Spirit of God descending as a
dove, and coming upon Him, and behold, a voice out of the heavens, saying, “This
is My beloved Son, in whom I am well-pleased.” Matthew 3:16,17.
John the Baptist was granted the awesome privilege of baptizing Jesus. In effect
Jesus was witnessing to all of mankind that their baptism of repentance was
valid. The sinless one joined the followers of John in their act of faith. This
mindset of Jesus was to be repeated over and over as He walked this earth and
identified with all the needs of man.
I can only believe that the Father continuously watched Jesus moment by moment.
That is what a loving Father would do. All the love, the grace, and the power of
the triune God are saying that the relationship with God and man is now one that
is pleasing. It seems like the understatement of the Bible, but when God is
pleased there is just no room for improvement.
It is not a stretch of our imagination to say that God also is well pleased with
His adopted children. We are totally justified in His sight. We have inherited
all that belongs to Jesus. He watches us moment by moment through the Holy
Spirit. Let me walk humbly before Him in all that I do.
Thank You, Father, for the gift of Your Son. We stand on His merits alone. Thank
You and Amen.
