Now may our Lord Jesus Christ Himself and God our
Father, who has loved us and given us eternal comfort and good hope by grace,
comfort and strengthen your hearts in every good work and word. 2 Thessalonians
2:16,17.
Christians are to believe God in all that He says to us.
We need to be certain of His love for us. We are assured of His comfort and
hope that is extended to us. Our hearts are not to waver in trust toward Him.
We need to embrace the thought patterns described by
William R. Newell:
To believe, and to consent to be loved while unworthy,
is the great secret.
To expect to be blessed, though realizing more and more
lack of worth.
To hope to be better (hence acceptable) is to fail to
see yourself in Christ only.
To be disappointed with yourself is to have believed in
yourself.
Yes, we are to accept ourselves in the same manner as God
has accepted us—in Christ Jesus. Every requirement, every promise, is fulfilled
in Christ as we accept Him by faith into our lives. We are not to acknowledge
any other standard held against us by our fellow man—we are not here on this
earth to please them. Just submit to the will of God, and, above all, believe
what His word says.
Thank You Father for the hope You bring us. Let us see You
in us in all that we do this day. Amen.
