June 28

Do not let kindness and truth leave you; bind them around your neck, write them on the tablet of your heart. So you will find favor and good repute in the sight of God and man. Proverbs 3:3,4.

We live in a world that denies the existence of absolute truth. The falsehoods of relativity surround us. Yet we know that Jesus is our truth. And as for kindness, it is limited to the few who have found that it lies in You. Yes, kindness is in the fruit of the Spirit (Galatians 5:22). The world would be transformed if we all could live in kindness and truth.

Lord, I am not always kind. Why do I sometimes try to “set people straight” in an unloving way? Am I trying to vindicate self? Do I imagine that I am the sole bearer of truth? Teach me the humble way of removing great logs from my own eye. Then, with Your leading, I can serve others.

Today, Lord, give me a new heart that is pure and open to Your guidance. I will not seek my way, but instead let me seek only Your ways. I know I will be misunderstood; I know my motives may be misinterpreted; yet I will find favor and good repute in Your sight. I will leave it all to You as to how I appear to my fellow man. Thank You Lord. Amen.
