June 15

For in Him all the fullness of Deity dwells in bodily form, and in Him you have been made complete, and He is the head over all rule and authority.  Colossians 2:9,10.

We have no trouble realizing that we came from earthly ancestors.  Yet we often forget that we have been born again into a new ancestry—the Christ-life.  It is one not of our own making.  It is one created by God.  And it needs no improvement, for it is complete.  In the Greek New Testament, the word complete has the meaning of perfect or mature.  It is complete in the sense that it embodies all that is in Jesus, the one who walked this earth without sin and who will reign forever in eternity.

We cannot add to that finished work.  My efforts are continually futile, and they will serve only to the extent that I realize my inability and turn everything over to Christ in submission.  . From my standpoint the only question is one of growth into His image.  In addition I will learn to consider what He has already done before I impatiently charge ahead into failure.  He must lead the way, and I am content to follow and learn from Him.

When we face situations that the enemy has created, our first instinct is to pray and ask God for the victory.  Instead we should be praising God and claiming the victory that He has already won.  To do otherwise is to give up the ground to the enemy.  God’s victory at the cross is all-inclusive.  He did not forget anything!

Thank You Father for all that You have already done.  I am just seeing more and more of it, and I can only imagine the blessings that await me in the future.  You have completed everything that we are to be.  I pray that I can see more of You this day and each day.  Amen.
