July 9
Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy. Six days you
shall labor and do all your work, but the seventh day is a Sabbath of the Lord
your God; in it you shall not do any work, you or your son or your daughter,
your male or your female servant or your cattle or your sojourner who stays with
you. For in six days the lord made the heavens and the earth, the sea and all
that is in them, and rested on the seventh day; therefore the Lord blesses the
Sabbath day and made it holy. Exodus 20:8-11.
We know that man was
created on the sixth day—just in time to enter God’s rest on the seventh day.
That is the pattern that is to sustain our life. We are to enter into His rest
after completing what work we have been assigned to do. For us to say that His
rest is unimportant is to deny the grace and love that He is so willing to
provide.
In this passage we see a very clear statement about the six
days of creation. Am I to dispute this or try to change it? Certainly not! Am
I to conclude that God is playing games with my mind, and that He really is
talking about eons of time rather than 24-hour days? Absolutely not! If we do
not believe the Genesis account of creation, then we really do not have belief
in the remainder of the Bible. Everything hinges upon God’s word and the
trustworthiness of His nature. In the final analysis, it is not our works
that accomplish anything. It is our entering into His rest so that we can
recognize and enjoy all that He has already done.
Jesus said at the cross, “It is finished.” So it is for us
as well. We are to allow ourselves to be embraced by the finished work of God.
This pattern is to extend to all of our family, friends, servants, animals and
guests within our home.
I am so tired of the empty theories of evolution, which
claim that life evolved over billions of years. This is the greatest lie. It
is born from the bowels of Satan himself. My friends, cast this evil theory
from your minds, and turn to the one, true creator God.
Thank You Father, for the pattern of life that allows us to
enter Your rest. Without this sanctuary we are nothing—just empty shells with
no hope for eternal life. Amen.
