January 3
The Lord God has given Me the tongue of disciples, that
I may know how to sustain the weary one with a word. He awakens Me morning by
morning, He awakens My ear to listen as a disciple. The Lord God has opened My
ear; and I was not disobedient, nor did I turn back. Isaiah 50:4,5.
This is a prophecy of the Lord Jesus that gives some
details of His walk on this earth and the facing of the cross. Jesus is calling
the Father Lord. We are to do the same as a disciple. Have you ever thought of
the Lord God awakening you in the morning and causing you to listen? This is a
reminder that each day belongs to Him, and we are start the day right by hearing
His word.
We are never to turn back. We are reminded of the
Israelites as they marched toward the Promised Land—only to whine and complain
about their leaders and God. We so often want things our way, as if we had the
knowledge and the power to make decisions that would produce life as it was
intended to be. No, we must not turn back toward our former life in Adam. Only
the new life in Christ is promising.
We are to be carriers of the Word of God. Our objective is
to sustain the weary—and they are everywhere. The world often thinks that the
Christian life is one that requires the carrying of a heavy load, but in
actuality it is the direct opposite. The world system demands the heavy load of
guilt and futile endeavor. Only Christ assures me that my load is easy—as I
follow Him.
Thank You Father for Your teaching. Thank You for
awakening me each day so that I may hear Your word. Let me carry that word to
all that have been prepared by Your Spirit. Thank You and Amen.
