Free From Fear

In 2 Timothy 1:2 we read, “May God our Father and Christ Jesus our Lord give you grace (forgiveness, and given a clean slate), mercy (accepted just as I am), and peace (a clear conscience and free from worry).” Looking at circumstances in this world will bring fear, and looking at our immediate circumstances in our life will block our faith. Fear comes when we want change, and we have no power within ourselves to achieve it. God even cares about the number of hairs on our head. He cares about every thing in our life from this very moment stretching to all eternity. Christ says to us He may not change our circumstances, but He has a reason for not changing it, and it is always for His good (which is why we are still here), and for our good (which is why we live).

When Jesus was leaving His disciples He sent the Holy Spirit to be a friend and counselor. He is a very special friend living within us—one we can depend upon. He is a friend who will guide us if we let Him. Talk to Him, confide in Him, and trust Him. His Spirit will change those unbearable circumstances. He will make them bearable and even bring blessings. The absolute truth and foundation of our faith in God is that He knew us even before birth. Accepting this knowledge allows that wonderful comfort that comes from sitting in His lap and being held close. Nothing, no nothing, can snatch us from His loving care. There is such strength and confidence in understanding you are a child of God. We live in a world full of fear, but Jesus has overcome all that is fearful. Morning always comes after darkness, and relief is always available. It takes complete trust in God, your Father.

If you are overcome by fear today, don’t try to fix it, or carry it, or give it to someone else. Give it to your friend, the Holy Spirit, who knows exactly what your fear is. Give praise to Jesus Christ so that you can give away that fear. He shed His blood for just that, and God the Father will turn your fear to joy.
