We know that, when He appears, we shall be like Him, because we shall see Him
just as He is. And everyone who has this hope fixed on Him purifies himself,
just as He is pure. 1 John 3:2b, 3.
This wonderful verse declares that we shall be like Jesus when we finally see
Him. I cannot fully comprehend these things, yet this verse says that by fixing
our hope on this we will experience purification. Of course this is not positive
thinking which achieves the result. Instead we are pure because He is pure. By
fixing my hope on Him I am trusting in the Holy Spirit to produce what I cannot
do myself. In a sense it is already done in the mind of God, as He beholds His
children of faith.
This causes me to love Him all the more. By giving me His life and purity I have
obtained a confidence before Him. There is an intimacy that breaks down any
barriers of inadequacy on my part. I feel whole before Him, and I trust Him all
the more.
Today let me see the purity of Jesus, and let me know that You, Father, see me
clothed with Him. I love you for this, and I want to please you all the more
because of Your greater love for me. Thank you. Amen.
