February 3

An excellent wife, who can find? For her worth is far above jewels.--- Her children rise up and bless her; her husband also, and he praises her, saying: “Many daughters have done noble, but you excel them all.” Charm is deceitful and beauty is vain, but a woman who fears the Lord, she shall be praised. Proverbs 31:10, 28-30.

I have been blessed, and I am continually blessed, by having known two wives that showed me their worth—far more than earthly jewels. The first is now with the Lord, and the second is by my side, but their influence goes on forever. Along with this is the blessing from daughters. My two daughters, by the first marriage, continually show a calmness and beauty of spirit that I know comes from the Lord. My stepdaughters, three in number, are a wonderful blessing as well. It seems that the Lord reveals Himself in miraculous ways through women.

We men have much to learn from women. They teach us to pause along the way of life; to smell, to see, and to taste life more fully. They have taught me that I can express my emotions, that I need not be afraid to ‘see’ with my heart. I do not need to ‘figure everything out’, as men are prone to do. Instead we can relax and absorb the moment in all its splendor. People become far more important in your life when you have a woman’s view of their worth.

Thank You, Lord, for creating women. They are truly spiritual jewels in our life. I ask that children everywhere continue to bless their mothers. When they do it is because You are with them, moment by moment. All the beauty of a woman somehow arises from within You, for You created them and designed them to express life as it is intended to be. We are truly blessed, over and over. Thank You and Amen.
