For we are the true circumcision, who worship in the Spirit of God and glory
in Christ Jesus and put no confidence in the flesh. Philippians 3:3
Here in this passage we see the character of true Christianity: worship in the
Spirit, glory in Christ, and lack of confidence in the flesh. All of us need to
examine our concept of worship. At our worship, whether at home or in a church
gathering, are we seeking the Lord, or are we just focusing on what we may
receive? Are we judging the sermon or are we listening to the Lord in the spoken
message? Can we offer up ourselves as a living sacrifice? In the same manner do
we glory in Christ? That is, do we marvel at who He is and how He has given His
life for us? There can be no room for glorying in the accomplishments of man.
And last, but not least, are we able to lose confidence in the flesh? It seems
we learn to do this through our failures. Only when I am totally frustrated and
defeated by the works of the flesh will I turn to Christ. He wants it that way.
Today, let me begin to experience true worship and glory in Christ. It can only
be done by faith in You, Lord. Your Holy Spirit will make it so as He teaches me
to place my faith in You. Thank you. Even my failures will be used to teach me
the futility of the flesh. Amen.
