Feb 23.

--but if we walk in the light as He himself is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus His Son cleanses us from all sin. 1 John 1:7.

Jesus is the light of this world, and every man is enlightened by Him. (John 1:9). But every man does not respond to the light. We often choose darkness. How many times have we tried to excuse our sinful habits rather that confess them? Do we occasionally become hardened to sin? The Lord would not have it that way. All sin was forgiven at the cross, but we need to accept this gift in Christ. Jesus knew that the old nature would try to dominate. Satan will always try to cause us to lead a defeated life, just as he is also defeated. Perhaps he does this to cause pain toward Christ, as if to proclaim that He died needlessly.

We are children of the light. It is the working of God’s grace toward us as we walk this earth. In the beginning God said “Let there be light.” So Christ continues to provide the way, and we can do no less than respond and rejoice in His light. It is the basis for our fellowship with one another as well as with Jesus.

Today, I will walk in the light--no blinders, no shades over my eyes. Help me Lord to have eyes that can see and feet that will respond to Your will. I will not excuse my shortcomings—I will only look for Your perfection. Amen.
