Yet, with respect to the promise of God, he did not waver in unbelief, but grew strong in faith, giving glory to God, and being fully assured that what He had promised, He was able also to perform. Therefore also it was reckoned to him as righteousness. Romans 4:20-22.

This reference to the life of Abraham reminds us that we often fail to see how God looks upon a believer. We sometimes focus on our shortcomings and begin to believe that somehow God is leaving us or He is going to hold a grudge against us. Nothing could be more in error. We only need to look at the lives of Sarah and Abraham to realize that God truly does not remember our sin when we are in Christ. Abraham could not wait for the promised son, so he and Sarah arranged for him to have a son by her handmaiden. Sarah laughed at the idea that she would give birth at her old age. So God called her son Isaac, which means “laughter”. We can read the 11th chapter of Hebrews and discover that nothing is mentioned about any failures on the part of the Old Testament saints. So it is with us. God records us in the Book of Life, and there is only the righteousness of Christ for Him to see.

Today, as I walk with You Jesus, let me continually be in a state of praise for You. It is beyond our comprehension, but by Your work at the cross I have been totally forgiven. That causes me to love You all the more, and I increasingly do not want to sin. Shape and mold me into Your image. Let me leave behind the distractions and false securities of my old nature in Adam. And I will give all the praise to You.  Amen
