Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied. Matthew 5:6.

It is a fact of life that we do not grow until we see the need. J. B. Stoney has said, “The true value of anything is known only when it is wanted”. As long as we are content with our own self-righteousness there will be no growth. Quite the opposite, we discover that we will become more miserable and discontented if we rely on ourselves. It appears that God will allow us to explore our own selfish ways, and the path of life that results from this misadventure, until we have reached the end of our “rope”. We cry out “What is wrong”? The Lord has known all along, but His patience and love allow us to discover it for ourselves. Only when we see the stark reality of the need for righteous living will we finally turn to the source of life.
J. B. Metcalfe writes: “It is more than comforting to realize that it is those who have plumbed the depths of failure to whom God invariably gives the call to shepherd others”.
Somehow by our very failures we slowly learn to depend upon Him. It is not that we need to ask for more failure so we can learn—the failures are a part of life. With each misstep, however, the Lord will gather us up and reveal His presence. This encouragement will cause me to love Him all the more and to seek His righteousness.

Today, as I walk through this life here on earth, I know Lord that your righteousness is perfect. You have given me the righteousness of Christ; I am truly justified in Your sight. My sins You will remember no more. Thank you!
