December 9

For this reason also, since the day we heard of it, we have not ceased to pray for you and to ask that you may be filled with the knowledge of His will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding, so that you may walk in a manner worthy of the Lord, to please Him in all respects, bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God.  Colossians 1:9,10.

The Christian is to be a prayer warrior.  We are to serve others by praying for them.  Even in the midst of trials and all manner of difficulties, we are to have the interests of others on our minds.  We are to love them as ourselves.

We are to pray that they will be filled with the knowledge of God’s will for their lives.  Of course we know that Christ is our wisdom, and it reaches out to all with understanding.  It is one thing to have knowledge, but only God can give us the wisdom of how to use that knowledge.

The result of prayer is that we become pleasing to God in all respects.  We are to be fruit bearers—in the manner of the branch that clings to the vine.  The goal of our life is to increase in the knowledge of our Creator.  All that He wishes for us will fall into place as we know Him intimately.  Whatever we learn now in this life will serve us well in eternity.

Father, let us walk closely today.  I want only to serve those around me by praying for their knowledge of You; that they may continually increase in that knowledge.  In ways that I do not fully understand, the well-being of my neighbor affects all of us.  You are shepherding us into the coming glory.  We seek to be pleasing to You in all Your works.  Thank You that we are partners with Jesus to fulfill all of Your desires.  Amen.
