December 8
Know that the Lord Himself is God, it is He who has made us, and not we
ourselves; we are His people and the sheep of His pasture. Enter His gates with
thanksgiving, and His courts with praise. Give thanks to Him; bless His name.
For the Lord is good; His lovingkindness is everlasting, and His faithfulness to
all generations. Psalm 100:3-5.
Today’s newspaper expressed the concern of some scientists. They contended that
religion was brainwashing the public against the disciplines of science. They
described a new thrust to reach the world with the only reasonable approach to
life—science. Old ideas must be done away with to make room for the real truth
of evolutionary processes.
In this verse we hear the word of God saying that He has made us. I choose to
believe this totally, for to do otherwise is to deny the very existence of God.
He has not made any mistakes; He cares for His people and He is the great
Shepherd. He has not chosen to make us with gradual rolls of the dice; there is
no need for chance-ridden steps of ‘improvement’ over eons of time. The six days
of creation are a firm reality.
How do we enter into His presence? With thanksgiving. A thankful heart opens
every avenue to God. We are thankful for our very lives, for they are created in
His image. We love, we communicate, and we serve others in the very same way
that God has also dealt with His people.
Thank You Lord Jesus for Your sacrifice at the cross. I can now boldly enter
into Your sanctuary. You alone are faithful. I count on Your lovingkindness
reaching out to me for all eternity. I am truly blessed. Let us walk closely
together through this coming day. Amen.
