December 27

Does He then, who provides you with the Spirit and works miracles among you, do it by the works of the Law, or by hearing with faith?  Even so Abraham believed God, and it was reckoned to him as righteousness.  Therefore, be sure that it is those who are of faith who are sons of Abraham.  Galatians 3:5-7.

It has always been by faith, as we see how Abraham trusted God.  Yet it is amazing how many Christians place themselves under law.  Actually the Law is designed to drive us to faith in Christ, but many miss that important fact.  Since we cannot keep the Law in every detail, and in every moment, it becomes a schoolmaster to seek other options.  And that option is by faith in Christ.

All the wonders of God are available to us by faith.  In a very strange way, at least by our standards, God regards the gentile believer in Christ as a son of Abraham.  I recently told that to a Jewish friend, and he just looked at me in disbelief.  Or was it just amazement?  Anyway, it is a measure of God’s grace that we are brought into the family of God—by faith.

Faith always needs to be tested.  It is not a matter of how much faith you have; it is a matter of upon whom you place your faith.  We are faced with various circumstances and problems and temptations that can be solved by faith in Christ.  . There is always a way of escape through Him.

Father, we glorify Your name for Your mercy and grace.  In spite of our weaknesses, You have chosen the path of faith for our guide in life.  Let us this day show renewed faith in Jesus, for He is the fulfillment of all of Your wishes for us.  We thank You in His name.  Amen.
