December 23

I will say to the Lord, “My refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust!” For it is He who delivers you from the snare of the trapper, and from the deadly pestilence. He will cover you with His pinions, and under His wings you may seek refuge; His faithfulness is a shield and bulwark. Psalm 91:2-4.

I pray that you have found this safe haven in the Lord. As we are pressed on all sides by the frantic pace of the world, it is all joy to discover this refuge under His wings. Can you picture this in your mind and in your heart? We are totally secure in Him. No enemy can penetrate His shield. There is peace beyond comprehension, and we can hear His still, small voice murmuring to us in words of comfort.

I long for these moments. I need the assurance of His presence and His counsel for my life. I just need to be still and to listen. My best moments are found in this way as I allow Him to remove all doubt and all attempts to justify self. It is only He that matters.
Yes, I would ask for more of these moments, but as I reflect on this I can only conclude that it is I who has not taken the time to seek Him. He is forever seeking me.

Dear Lord, I thank You for the presence of Your Holy Spirit, the Spirit of Christ, in my life. Let me call upon You each step of this day. The world will try to trap me into relying upon my strength and my own inadequate wisdom. Yet You are there for me as my refuge. You alone are faithful. You are my shield. I thank You in the name of Jesus. Amen.
