December 13
Be gracious to us, O Lord, be gracious to us; for we
are greatly filled with contempt. Psalm 123:3.
Those of us who walk with the Lord are often prone to use
of discernment of others in an improper way. When I see a brother in Christ who
is doing things harmfully and improperly do I use that information just to
criticize him? Do I imagine that I am any better? Do I share the faults of
others with a judgmental attitude that tries to imply that I am superior? Yes,
I am afraid we are often filled with contempt.
Could we not reach out in love and compassion to a brother
in need? Could we try to visualize what it means to walk in his shoes? All the
while we need to take our thoughts captive to Christ, for we are only a step
away from acting just like any non-believer. Our witness is destroyed when we
take on these critical attitudes. The world system has enough mean spirit of
its own—we do not need to add to it.
Father, I ask today that You control my mouth and my
attitude toward others. Let me be seasoned with grace and love. Let me without
any bad attitude toward others. Instead I ask that I be used to support and
nurture them in a loving way. Thank You and Amen.
