Brokenness

But this precious treasure—this light and power that now shine within us—is held in perishable containers, that is, in our weak bodies. So everyone can see that our glorious power is from God and is not our own. We are pressed on every side by troubles, but we are not crushed and broken. We are perplexed, but we don’t give up and quit. We are hunted down, but God never abandons us. We get knocked down, but we get up again and keep going. Through suffering, these bodies of ours constantly share in the death of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus may also be seen in our bodies. 2 Corinthians 4:7-11. (New Living Translation).

There are so many people that are hurting and broken and sick and hungry. Oh Lord, how it seems more than we can ever imagine. Many have lost hope and the desire to carry on. There is spiritual, emotional and physical brokenness with nothing offered as a cure. How can it be that we eat and sleep and enjoy luxuries and never give a moment’s thought to the desperate needs of others? I pray that You would forgive me for my lack of compassion and concern. Show us what we can do to ease the pain of just one person today. Only You can change our heart to feel and experience the deep sense of need that can bring healing, which comes from You. You care for everyone—everyone Lord. If we each care for just one, how much glory and honor You will receive? We want You to be known as the great provider. You are all we need, and we all need You. So please give us the desire to offer You in a loving, powerful way to all those we meet. We can not begin to do this alone, and we want to experience the joy that comes from serving others with Your words, Your hands, and Your feet. Amen.
