August 4

“The Lord is my portion,” says my soul, “therefore I have hope in Him.” The Lord is good to those who wait for Him, to the person who seeks Him. Lamentations 3:24,25.

As we suffer through various trials, the Lord is always watching. He is loving us and teaching us His ways. We are to be persistent in prayer and thanksgiving, for we know that He is allowing all things to teach us dependence upon Him. We know that others are watching us; some are even hoping that we fail. Yet we can pray that others will be encouraged by our steadfastness.

Our only true hope is the Lord, Jesus. Why would anyone trust in the things of this world when they will all pass away? I admit I sometimes do this, but I also know that I learn deep truths from my failure to follow Him. He is patient for me to return to Him as I learn from my mistakes.

Lord, let me seek You today. I know You are always there—watching and yearning for me to take Your hand. You are good. Your Holy Spirit is ever present in my life, and I know that You offer hope in the midst of my trials. We will conquer all difficulties together, and I will grow in understanding of who You are and how You live in my heart. Thank You, Lord. In the precious name of Jesus, Amen.
