August 3
God is faithful, through whom you were called into
fellowship with His Son, Jesus Christ our Lord. 1 Corinthians 1:9.
The root word for fellowship is communion, and the
root of communion is common. Hence we are to have common thoughts,
motives, expressions of joy and love with our Lord Jesus. It goes without
saying that we will find freedom in this communion; for it is well known that
there is no sin in the presence of God. We immediately see the beautiful need
for confession—so that we are set free to commune with God. Although Jesus knew
sin because He became our sin at the cross, it is now true in His resurrected
life, and in our newly created life as well, that sin is gone—paid for, and
forgotten.
My friends, let us fully realize the whole concept of
fellowship. It is based upon acceptance, friendship, and sharing of lives. We
have the eternal creator joining with us in communion. How can it ever get any
better? We need to be offering continual praise for this privileged position in
Christ.
Sometimes we think we know the meaning of fellowship when
we gather in His name in a church setting. Or perhaps we associate our eating
together with fellowship. Yes, these events are hints of the real fellowship,
and I do not mean to take them lightly. But I ask that you talk to God about
the developing of fellowship with. Jesus. It will involve some quiet time,
prayer and meditation upon His word. Above it will involve listening!
Thank You Father for allowing us to commune with You. We
accept Your invitation, and we are hungry to listen and enjoy Your company.
Thanks for the bond that it between us. Let us go forth today in joy and song.
Amen.
