August 22

The land which we passed through to spy out is an exceedingly good land. If the Lord is pleased with us, then He will bring us into this land, and give it to us—a land which flows with milk and honey. Numbers 14:7b,8.

Joshua and Caleb fully understood that God had led them into the promised land. It was to be theirs by faith. Unlike the others who spied out the land, they did not focus on the giants in the land; they instead focused upon the promises of God and what He would do for them. We can take note of this for own lives; we should always learn to see the promises of God and not the unfaith of the world system.

Often I have behaved as those unbelievers in this passage. It is so easy to see only the difficulties. It is so easy to question the ability of God to handle our situations. Joshua and Caleb would have to travel in the wilderness for 40 years as God disciplined the Israelites, but they would be the only two of the original band that left Egypt to enter the land after those years.

Father, let me trust in Your judgment for the paths You choose for me. I need not question Your authority or Your power to accomplish the task. Let me not see only the difficulty; instead let me see each problem as an opportunity for me to learn dependence upon You. Thank You in the name of Jesus. Amen.
