April 4

Do not let your speech cause you to sin and do not say in the presence of the messenger of God that it was a mistake. Why should God be angry on account of your voice and destroy the work of your hands? Ecclesiastes 5:6

Lord, I am so prone to say things that do not honor you. I speak before I think. It is so much easier to criticize than to build up. You have given me your Holy Spirit to constantly advise me about what I say and do. Do not let me grieve Him. I want to be a part of Your works, and it would be so foolish for me to cancel those works by the utterances of an uncontrolled mouth. Let me not be negative, or to focus on the shortcomings of others. It is only I who am at fault when I do those things.

Today, Jesus, let my mediations and the words of my mouth honor You. I am a new creation in You, and that creation wants only to serve You and to be an instrument to reach others. Let my words be few in number but mighty in content. If all of this becomes true it is because of Your works in me. To Jesus be the praise. Amen.
