April 15
Behold, the eye of the Lord is on those who fear Him,
on those who hope for His lovingkindness. Psalm 33:18.
It gives me great joy to think that God is watching us. I
visualize the father, in the story of the prodigal son, as he watches and sees
his son returning from a great distance. He has been watching and waiting all
the time for his return. And he runs to meet the son to welcome him.
Are we not the same as this wayward son when we go our own
way? Yet, as we fear Him (look upon Him with respect) we know that we can
return to His open arms. I want to do that less and less, and I want to love
Him all the more. As I see His grace toward me, I can only want to be more like
Him in every way.
When we hope for His lovingkindness it is not a matter of
wishful thinking. Jesus becomes our very hope—in living and powerful form.
There is no doubt in the Father, and He does not originate any doubt within us.
It is not a matter of if our hope is to be met in Christ; instead it is
only a matter of when it is to be met. We wait upon His perfect timing.
Our Father, we will never see Your lovingkindness fail or
end. Thank You for this character of You that is extended so wholeheartedly
toward us. We learn from it and desire to show that same love to others. You
have done so well in Your designs for us. Let us honor You and this day by
fearing and trusting in You. Amen.
