And this is eternal life, that they may know Thee, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom Thou hast sent. John 17: 3.

It is hard for us to visualize eternal life. Because of our earthly experience we think that it has something to do with marking off calendars forever. We are bound by space and time and can not see the true picture of eternity with Jesus. What is He saying in this passage?

This is eternal life, that they may know Thee. Oh, Lord, is that the answer? Can it be that You are life? When Christ, who is our life, is revealed, then you also will be revealed with Him in glory. Col. 3:4. Somehow You would have me grasp that Jesus really is the way, the truth, and the life. There is nothing else--there is nothing more.

I don't feel very eternal. This old body groans and it gets tired. Are You saying that if I know Jesus I can experience eternal life now? You mean it doesn't start later? After I die? How can it be that You can share Your life with me on this earth? Do You love me that much?

Yes, Lord, I know that you love me. As I go about today's toil I know that eternal life goes with me. Will anyone see it? Will Your life show? Amen.
