And what wilt Thou do for Thy great name?..Joshua 7:9.

Joshua and his men had just lost a great battle.  The men of Ai had struck down about 36 of them and pursued them.  Their hearts melted with fear.  Joshua recognized that he had no answers for their defeat, other than they had proceeded without prayer.  They had grown overconfident in their own abilities.  Oh, how I identify with this foolish strategy.  It seems we have this great tendency to rely upon self and to ignore that the victory always belongs to the Lord.

Today, Lord Jesus, let me trust only in You.  I have no plans, no knowledge, and no grasp of what lies ahead.  I can only claim that You will do something this day for Your great name.  Is that not what You are all about?  Everything needs to be laid at Your feet.  Thank You for Your love and mercy.  Amen.
