What Excites You?
Whether you call it anticipation, something you are eager to experience, or
excitement, it becomes a focus, a goal and a motive you will carry out.
Recently our Pastor, Bob Suter, challenged us to consider just “How do we
worship the Lord?” I found myself with a desire to explore the scriptures and I
have discovered it to be the most important thing I do. Worship is a very
exciting part of everyday life.
When you love God with all your heart and want to honor Him with your life,
worship becomes a lifestyle. Your heart, your mind and your mouth will overflow
with praise of Jesus Christ and His wondrous goodness and mercy toward us. You
will find perfect peace in the trials of life. Not if they come; for we are all
surely going to have trials in our life. There is a contagious attitude and
strength in the life of those who worship the Lord.
When I open my mouth to pray and communicate with Him, and I realize that I am
in His very presence, for a moment my heart beats fast and I am speechless. Many
times my eyes fill and I am visually sitting at His feet. Our relationship is so
intimate that one look and He knows exactly what I am feeling and thinking. I
ask Him to search my heart and see if there is any wicked way in me. I ask Him
to create a pure heart and the blessing of a clear conscience that brings joyous
freedom. My spirit is confirming my love and adoration, my gratefulness, and my
humble apologies. He instantly knows my needs and concerns. He searches for
areas to encourage and restore and to bring joy and rest to my soul. It is this
encounter with almighty God, the Father, where my worship begins and continues
all day long.
I am excited to seek His presence, for it is the only place of complete
fulfillment in the realities of life. In the Scriptures we learn about worship,
but let’s experience it. It is a cure for heartache, it is relief from fear, it
brings purpose when I have lost my way, and it is relief from the anxiety that
so easily creeps in.
We can discover and experience His joy and peace. My prayer for you dear friends
is that you will catch a glimpse of the excitement that worship of our Savior
can bring.
