Forbidden Fruit

That little apple hanging on the tree– beautiful, luscious, just waits for me.
But it is forbidden, don’t be tempted I was warned.
To eat of that fruit will bring sorrow forever mourned.
Just a little bite, I really can’t see
how one small moment can any harm be?
For nobody’s looking, no one will know, I’m sure it won’t matter;
it won’t even show.
We face many choices throughout our days,
and the decisions we make affects us and others in so many ways.
It’s fun, it’s exciting, and oh so inviting;
just this once, surely there’s no harm in trying.
How many times have I played this game?
With consequences so horrible, and only I am to blame.
The regret and the shame are not a fair exchange
for a moment of fun that brings sadness- long range.
To indulge in desire brings no peace or fulfillment,
only the choosing of Jesus brings total contentment.
If you want real fun, real peace, real joy,
experience God’s forgiveness and your life you will enjoy.
