Do not neglect to show hospitality to strangers, for by this some have
entertained angels without knowing it. Hebrews 13: 2
If we could only see Christ in all those we meet, we would marvel at the
importance of our contacts with friends, neighbors, and strangers. I have fond
memories of those who came from the railroad boxcars and sat on my Grandmother’s
back porch. She would feed them homemade pie and wish them well as they went on
their way. You could sense their despair, but at the same time you had given
them a small dose of hope. So it is to be each day if we would only reach out.
There are the lonely and shut-ins of this life that need our love and help. They
live each moment without enough to do, and they wonder about their uncertain
future. We can not physically invite them all into our homes, but the Lord would
have us call on them and show works that will ease their burdens.
Today Lord, can it be that I will have the opportunity to entertain an angel?
Show me how to reach out and show the love of Christ to all that I meet. I am
available to Your Holy Spirit. Thank you for the body of Christ that shares its
life with others.
