I know how to get along with humble means, and I also know how to live in prosperity; in any and every circumstance I have learned the secret of being filled and going hungry, both of having abundance and suffering need. Philippians 4:12
And my God shall supply all your needs according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:19

Here we have the secret of living the Christian life in the midst of this world. Oh, we would say that it is better to live in abundance—“just let me try that”, we say. But no, the Lord is the final wisdom on this subject. He knows not only my every need, but how I can live with it if that need were fulfilled. The Greek word for “being filled” was used to describe a fattened animal. It seems that would adequately describe the abundant living of many in the United States. Yet the key is not what we have, but who is supplying the need. If I trust in myself my priorities will be selfish and misdirected. If I trust in Him there will be plenty for my own life as well as those to whom I must give. The Lord provides according to His riches in glory. There can be no more than that.

Today Lord just let me be content in You. I trust in You to provide according to Your will, so that I can be sustained, yet available, for all persons that You would have me touch. I do not want to presume that I can direct my own path through today’s circumstances. In every hour I will look for Your guidance and fulfillment. I can do this only by faith in You. Thank you.
